Trolley Tours of Fredericksburg
The shiny vintage-style streetcars of Trolley Tours of Fredericksburg are fixtures along the streets of the historic downtown . They move slowly, so visitors and locals alike can see 35 of the sights that make Fredericksburg a fixture in American history. The tours are guided by knowledgeable drivers who deliver a lively and insightful narrative about each landmark along the way.
You'll scroll by Hugh Mercer's 18th century Apothecary Shop, the Rising Sun Tavern built as a residence by George Washington's brother, Charles, and by the home of their mother, Mary Washington. Other landmarks include the Kenmore Inn, home to George Washington's sister, the Sunken Road of Fredericksburg Battlefield fame and the James Monroe Museum. In between the historic structures, you'll view the lay of the land that witnessed one of the most horrific and significant battles of the American Civil War, the Battle of Fredericksburg. On one cold, rainy weekend in December 1862, 17-thousand warriors died on these hallowed grounds.
Tours last 75 memorable minutes and run several times daily year-round with an expanded schedule in the warm weather months. Trolley Tours board just outside the Fredericksburg Tourism Center at the corner of Caroline and Charlotte Streets in the heart of the historic downtown shopping district.
